Grandma's Oatmeal Cookies

An old recipe, but easy to make. Soft cookies that are Oh, so good.


3 cups quick-cooking rolled oats
1/2 cup brown sugar or sucanat (or stevia)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup butter (or 1/2 cup butter & 1/2 cup margarine)
1/4 cup boiling water
1 tsp baking soda


Pre-heat oven to 350.
Mix oats with sugar ( or sucanat or stevia), flour and salt.
Melt butter, add to oat mixture and mix well.
Dissolve baking soda in boiling water and add to mixture.
Drop onto cookie sheets and press down slightly.
Bake 7-10 minutes or until browned.
