Beef Stew


1 TBS oil
1/2-1 lb beef for stewing
cup flour
tsp salt
tsp pepper

2-4 medium carrots, sliced
1-2 large potatoes, cut into bite sized pieces
1 green pepper, chopped
1 stalk celery chopped
1 small onion chopped
2 cloves garlic minced
tsp browning sauce (optional)
1 tsp salt
1 bay leaf


In a bowl, combine flour, salt and pepper. Roll beef pieces in mixture and then fry in a little oil. Cover with 3 C water and let simmer 2-3 hours. Prepare vegetables. Remove beef pieces and shred with a fork if desired. Return beef to pot. Add vegetables and simmer 30 minutes. Add more water if desired depending on the amount of vegetables. Remove bay leaf before serving.
