fruit crisp

tasty and simple


6 cups apples or other fruit (if you are using frozen fruit you\\\'ll just want to have a good layer of fruit in the bottom as it won\\\'t cook down like fresh apples)
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup rolled oats (not instant!)
1/2cup flour
5 tablespoons butter (or your choice of bakable substitue)
1/8 cup chopped nuts optional


Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Then place fruit in a bowl and mix with white sugar and a dash of cinnamon (about a 1/2 teaspoon) Depending on your fruit\\\'s tartness and your sweet tooth you may want more or less sugar.
dump this into the bottom of a lightly greased or buttered 9 inch round pan (or equivalent)
mix oats, brown sugar, flour, nuts, and spices -(about a teaspoon total-too taste) in a bowl forming a crumbly texture. Pat this mixture on top of the fruit.
Bake for 30 to 40 minutes. Less if using frozen fruit. Don\\\'t forget to put a drip pan under it as it often bubbles over.
