Fruit Treats

l cup chopped dates
1/2 cup chopped prunes
1/2 cup raisins
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter, cut in pats
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup flour
1/2 cup chopped nuts, optional


In a saucepan, combine fruits and water. Bring to boil and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in margarine and salt. Set aside to cool. Add remaining ingredients to fruit. Stir just until dry ingredients are moistened, spoon into greased muffin pans. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. You may also bake in a 9 x 11 pan. The treat may be baked in fancy cupcakes and decorated with quartered maraschino cherries or half a pecan.
